My name is Henry, and I’m the co-founder of Practical Logos. My good friend Hunter invited me to join him in creating a blog dedicated to writing down our random thoughts concerning theology, philosophy, and other topics.
Along with Hunter, I agree that the evangelical church should have more of a concern with church history and the rich history that has gone before us. We hope that our site can enlighten others on the many lessons that can be found in the writings and events of those who have gone before us. We hope that what we write can be enlightening and can encourage the reader to think more deeply. I love what 2 Peter 1:5-7 says concerning the importance and interconnectedness of knowledge and other virtues, as it says:
5 For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, 6 and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, 7 and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love.
I think this verse is also gently convicting to the nerd like me, who loves learning, that knowledge should not come at the expense of virtue. In all that I write in this online age, I hope to bring clarity, not convoluted theories—light, not heat.
A bit about my background: I have a bachelors degree in biology, and I am currently pursuing a PharmD. With my background, I cannot say that I am an expert in anything, but I am very interested in topics like creation and bioethics which stems from my love of God’s word and God’s world. I hope this will allow me to clearly articulate my thoughts concerning topics where faith and science intersect. In all my writing, I hope to help others think well and be encouraged in their walk with Christ.
